How to register and how to distribute it
(CNN Spanish) – The Mexican government announced, Tuesday, June 14, the start of a new phase of vaccination against Covid-19 in the country, which will focus on boys and girls from 5 to 11 years old.
The Undersecretary of the Mexican Ministry of Health said, that this is the seventh stage of vaccination that is being conducted on Mexican soil since its beginning in December 2020.
The first shipment of more than 800,000 vaccines from Pfizer-BionTech has arrived in the country. The second will arrive on Friday with more than a million to ensure the supply at the beginning of this phase.
There is still no date for the rollout of the vaccines, though the president indicated on Thursday that it could begin “this weekend, next week at the latest.”
In the meantime, we leave you with all the information you need to know to register children from 5 to 11 years old.
Online registration
From Thursday, June 16, online registration for the vaccine has been opened.
This registration is an important step to speed up the vaccination process, as all registrants are allowed to download the vaccination record, a document that must be printed on the day you should receive the injection. Also, by registering, you may be notified by message or call when your vaccine is due, although not everyone receives this notification, so it is best to keep an eye on official government channels.
Pfizer two-dose regimen
The vaccine for children aged 5 to 11 years old is Pfizer.
“The contract has already been signed with Pfizer for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, which we will get about eight million doses that will allow us to start this vaccination process,” Lopez Gatell said last Thursday.
These eight million vaccines will be the first part of the process because it is estimated that this population segment is up to 15.4 million people and the plan for children ages 5 to 11 will be two doses.
The two-dosing schedule for children will be “21 days to 1.5 months apart to provide protection against COVID-19 similar to adults, according to clinical trials.”
How is the covid vaccine registration for children 5-11 years old in Mexico?
- First, go to the site
- Once there, you must enter the CURP of the person who will receive the vaccine in space for children ages 5 to 11
- When you do this step, you will have to fill in some personal information and contact information for notifications
- At the end of this, the child will be registered and you will be able to download the vaccination file (if it is not available at that time, you will be able to see it days later by entering the CURP again)
How will it be distributed?
Lopez-Gatell noted that the vaccination would be phased; That is, it will not start the whole process at once, but rather it will be activated little by little by states and municipalities.
“You have to be aware of the call for each municipality, it will not be synchronized across the country, but will be opened in different states and municipalities,” he added.
He indicated that the vaccine will be given in traditional health facilities, in temporary units known as large centers, and in other special areas that will be announced later.
