95,000-Plus Cadillac XT5, XT6 and GMC Acadia SUVs Recalled for Backup Cameras

Major recalls from General Motors have been spanning across many brands, but the latest for defective backup cameras affects both the Cadillac and GMC lines, specifically the XT5, XT6 and Acadia SUVs.

Affected are more than 95,200 2020-21 Cadillac XT5s, XT6s and GMC Acadias equipped with the optional Surround Vision feature. The rear view camera’s coaxial cable connectors may have been crimped incorrectly, causing the rear view camera to fail or work intermittently. Decreased visibility from a failed camera view can increase the risk of an accident.

As a repair, dealers will replace the coaxial cable for free. Parent automakers Cadillac and GMC will begin notifying owners on November 7, but those with more questions can call Cadillac at 800-458-8006, GMC at 800-462-8782 or the National Vehicle Safety Administration Hotline. For Highway Traffic Safety at 888-327-4236 or to check them out and learn more.
