Nearly 60,000 Mercedes SUVs Recalled for Seatback Lock Failure

Nearly 60,000 Mercedes SUVs Recalled for Seatback Lock Failure Less than a month after issuing a major recall of AMG and Maybach SUVs, Mercedes-Benz is recalling a range of full-size GLS SUVs for the backs of third-row seats that would fail in the event of an accident.

Affected SUVs include 2021 AMG GLS63s and 2020-22 GLS450s and GLS580s. This issue relates to the third-row seat back lock, which may not limit occupants as required, increasing the risk of injury during a collision.

As a decision, dealers will inspect and replace third-row seat backs, as necessary, free of charge. Mercedes will start notifying owners on November 29th; Those with other questions can call the automaker at 800-367-6372, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236, or to check it out and learn more.
