You Can Have the 2023 Kia Sorento PHEV in Any Trim You Want as Long as It’s the SX-P The Kia Sorento PHEV returns in 2023, but Kia has “simplified” the plug-in hybrid lineup into a single piece, ditching the SX and leaving only the SX-P. The fully loaded SX-P (“P” stands for “prestige”) is getting some minor improvements for 2023 and will start at $51,095 (including $1,295 in destination fees), a $1,710 increase over the 2022 model.

The power of the Sorento PHEV comes from a 1.6-liter four-cylinder gas-turbo engine and 66.9-kilowatt electric motor, which together generate 261 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. All-wheel drive is standard, and the only transmission option is a six-speed automatic. Official EPA estimates for the 2023 Sorento PHEV are not available as of this writing, but at 79 and 34 mpg combined when using the gas-only engine, with 32 miles of all-electric range. Expect the 2023 valuations to be identical or very close to it.

Being the top (and now the base too), the SX-P is loaded with all sorts of goodies, including advanced driver assistance tech like forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and blind spot warning. With the help of collision avoidance and rear cross traffic detection, rear collision avoidance assistance and much more. For 2023, the SX-P also adds standard Homelink retractable tailgate blinds and a 115-volt home outlet.
